This week in the lecture we were asked to create an interactive PowerPoint. We could be as creative as we would like, it could be an information resource, activity, choose your own adventure story, etc., it just had to include the new interaction tools we learned. I thought it was an extremely fun and creative assignment. My favorite aspect and new skill I learned was playing around with the action shapes and noise buttons. I always wondered how teachers add fun games into their PowerPoint or noises to go along with the buttons you click, the answers you choose, etc., and so this was really interesting and fun for me to learn about! Below I included a picture of this assignment!      We also begun to learn and understand what data collection tools are and their significance of. Data  collection tools are things such as qualities for a  survey or an experiment. For myself, in the future as a teacher or just in general in another career, I could see myself utilizing surveys most ofte

As we start to close in on the semester, for our blog post of this week we were assigned to talk about our experiences in EME2040; Likes, dislikes etc. Prior to this class I never had any intention of becoming a teacher; I am a public health major and so my interests have always been around nursing or medicine. However, I loved learning about all of the different educational tools, and internet skills; we not only learned and focused on how these things are utilized in the classroom, but also for anyone in any profession or personal use! This class has opened me to the idea of teaching and my interest in possibly connecting a teaching profession to nursing!      One of the big things we explored this semester were OERs, otherwise known as open educational resources. These resources are any teaching, learning, or research content that is created/licensed to be free for anyone to use, share, teach etc. One example of an OER resource actually comes from the OER Commons website!     This past week we became familiar with online web design and became more familiar with these platforms, one for example is Weebly. I at first had some technical issues when using Weebly on my personal computer however, eventually, we were able to solve this problem. I think teachers would really enjoy utilizing this in their classroom; similar to me, they may have technical problems which could be an issue especially if you have a lot of students or those who aren't familiar with technology. But I think it was a really great resource and a fun one for teachers to use in their classrooms. Furthermore, the two design principles that I used were CRAP principles as I was designing my website, and I also made sure my website was easy to read but also fun and creative! I included many pictures and subheadings, titles, etc.! Below is a link to my website :)! https://www.weebly.com/editor/main.php#/ (Professor Idam, I could not "publish" it but I still wanted to include the l

For this week's blog discussion, we were asked to visit a teacher website page that has information about the teacher, their information, etc., that is public to everyone! I went on the school website for Leon County and chose the teacher Ms. Megan Abbott (an elementary, English teacher in Leon County!) On the website, and for all of them they have listed their telephone number, email, and degree and certifications. This is great information for students or parents who want to reach out the teacher ahead of time, or for someone to reach out to that teacher and get more information on the class structure, what to expect, etc. I think this is a great tool for students and parents to have, and it shows that the schools aren't hiding anything and are proud of their teachers.      Furthermore, I envision myself using tools such as the one we learned above and all of the ones we have learned in this class in my future career! While I am not looking towards becoming a teacher (althou

This past week we were introduced to diigo; this is a platform that allows students to annotate web pages and pdfs directly, and also can be utilize to organize your links, references, and personal inputs. I had never used or heard diigo prior to this course however, after being introduced to it and learning more I am extremely excited to continue to explore and use it. I like the purpose of using diigo however, I did feel it was a little difficult to understand the platform and to use the tools on it. Of course this is only my first time using diigo and so naturally it may be a little confusing. But I am excited to continue to use this platform  moving forward.     Secondly we were asked to discuss our experience with blogging. I had never "blogged" before or used a platform to do so, but after using these tools in class I really have been enjoying it! I like every week in class how we can discuss what we had learned in class and post all of our ideas, questions, and topi

This week in lecture we discussed the role of technology, more specifically the relationship technology places between students and teachers. In thinking about how I have used technology in my own life and in helping me with my future goals and career, I definitely think using platforms such as Twitter X and Instagram has helped me significantly! While I have not explored many of the twitter pages related to nursing/public health, I do know it will be a great resource for me as I am looking for a future career. Not only can you often see job listings or "now hiring" announcements on these social media websites, but it will also allow me to find volunteer or internship opportunities, and connect with other nurses or people my age who are also in a similar position!     And while technology has been a great resource for me and many others, there is also this topic of discussion known as the "digital divide." The digital divide is this idea that students who have

In the lecture this week we discussed ELA Standards and Common Core State Standards. ELA Standards and standards in general are what provide schools a roadmap to guide teaching and skills needed to set students up for success. The full list of standards can be extensive and overwhelming to read. This is why the Florida Department of Education created matrices to help teachers bind this bridge. For this assignment, we were asked to pick a grade level and subject matter interesting to us and to read about and select one of the standards found on ELA's  website. As a current public health major I decided the best subject for me to teach would be "health education" and the grade level I chose was Kindergarten! My standard was titled "HE.K.CEH.1.2.", it encompassed being able to teach kindergarteners ways to prevent communicable diseases. While I feel I am definitely able to teach this topic, I don't know if I agree that it is teachable to kindergarteners o
